We’re building a new garden at Topa Topa Elementary School

Food for Thought is excited to be working with Ojai Unified School District to build a brand new school garden at the Topa Topa Elementary School campus. We’re replacing the garden that had been at the center of campus for over 20 years. The school had a major campus and field revision, updating and upgrading most of the outdoor space. The end result for us is a blank slate: we have a huge, fenced-in area to build out the best school garden we possibly can. Late last school-year as we were in the planning stages, we asked students to draw out how they’d use the garden space. Some of the ideas were wonderful, and we’ll post a few of their drawings here. We’ll post regular progress updates in this space as well, so you can follow along. And, keep an eye out for opportunities to get involved- we’ll have a few volunteer work days this coming fall.
