Coming Soon to OUSD Lunch Trays!

Student lunches at Ojai Unified will soon feature these farm fresh beauties from Poco Farm. Poco Farm is a 2-acre farm in Meiners Oaks owned by Grace and Dan Malloy. Farmer Nitana Buczek-Calfee and her crew of locally grown interns have planted crops specifically for Ojai’s public school National School Lunch meals. This farm is ideally situated less than half a mile from the two main production kitchens for the district. Produce was planted over the summer with the help of recent Nordhoff graduates who have interned at the farm. This new partnership will be gradually rolled-out as harvest and distribution systems get developed and put in place, but the ultimate rewards are numerous, supporting our local farmers, featuring farm fresh produce in school meals and shortening the distance from farm to tray. Stay tuned for posts as the students sample the crunchy carrots in the upcoming weeks!
